What To Do
-
The operator or manager is responsible for setting a budget for this activity. An easy place to start is to find how much you’re comfortable spending per person and multiply that by the number of team members that need to be included (lounge + grooming). This will give you an all-in budget.
For example, if you were comfortable spending $20 per person and you had 10 staff members, your all-in activity budget would be $200.

Plastic Eggs
Prizes/Candy: Prizes should range in monetary value and may be money, gift cards, small makeup/spa items, candy, keychains/pins, get off early/skip chore vouchers, S&S swag items, etc. Get creative and customize for your team.

-
This activity should last 1-2 days. To prepare, hide eggs in the shop before open or after close when no team members are there.
-
Fill each egg with one small piece of candy and/or one prize. If prizes do not fit into eggs, write the prize on a small piece of paper instead and place inside of the egg. Hide eggs around the shop for staff to find creating an equal opportunity for all staff to participate. Avoiding areas like the restroom, office, or any other spaces with restricted/limited access.
-
Send a Slack in your teams General channel the morning of the hunt before anyone enters the shop. It can be something as simple as
“Good Morning @channel! There are [80] plastic eggs hidden around the shop and each one has something inside. Find them and keep the prizes, enjoy and good luck!
Use the flyers provided on this page to post in your break room on the big day and have so much fun.
-
The manager is responsible for setting the rules and conditions for the activity. The goal is to ensure everyone has fun and that the rules don't become too restrictive, like limiting the number of eggs each staff member can find. To make sure everyone can enjoy the game, eggs should be hidden in all parts of the shop, such as behind the bar, around the reception desk, grooming area, shampoo area, retail area, break room, etc. If there is a barber/stylist who is booked all day and won't have time to find eggs, make sure to hide one or two eggs in or around their station, so they can still have a chance to join in the fun.
-
Keep a list of all of the prizes so you know whats been found and what is still hiding in the shop.
Create different levels of difficulty when hiding eggs.
Easy: Plain sight, on a product shelf, at a station, on a barber chair, etc.
Medium: Disguised among other items of a similar color, behind or under items, etc. See slideshow below for some fun inspo.
Hard: Think about places your team accesses daily, in between towel bundles, around items that need replenished daily (backbar shampoo, trash bags, cleaning supplies, lounge straws/napkins) lastly, above and below eye level to challenge their attention to detail.
If there is candy left over after filling your initial batch of eggs use it to refill the found/empty eggs and continue to hide them through the day so your later arriving team members can join in the fun.
Be in the shop on this day, you wont want to miss it! Your presence can help create excitement, interactions and get your team connecting during this fun event.
If you have a large prize egg, like a golden egg with cash inside, make a big announcement in your General Slack channel when its found and include a picture of the lucky team member!
Have so much fun! Teams still talk about the egg hunt and the excitement and joy it brought.
Avoid the word “Easter”, some member of our team don’t celebrate easter so it’s referred to as “The Egg Hunt” so everyone feel comfortable participating.
